Social Media...is about Sociology & Psychology more than Technology!

After our alarm goes off in the morning, what is the first thing we will do? Despite the fact...we are still half asleep; we all reach for our phone to check updates on our social networking platforms. With the extension of social networks, users face both profit and loss. Social network offers a platform for business to increase their profit, and companies to track social network user's information.

The gasoline to business marketing is fueled through social networking. Author, Hussain masterfully explains how social networks created the easiest way to reach the right audience at the right time. It provided the platform for marketers to enlarge their business. Due to this advancement, customers can reach their marketers faster and easier.

When the use the network, they are being tracked. Companies gather information through lines of code and try to sell their product based on users' interest. In the world of business, it is important for businesses to hold their customers in grip.

SocialMediaToday states how social network created a platform for business to increase their profit. Through advertisement on social networks, marketers grab customers easily. Businesses will keep track of existing customers purchase history. When users view advertisement based on their preference, they are more likely to buy that product.

The marketing techniques will capture their attention rapidly. For example: According to Elegant themes, marketers use weasel words like extra, fresh, clean, beautiful, and so on to grab customer attention. As customers buy certain products, companies will establish close relationships. Moreover, I will explain how users’ data on social networks can be sold

User can change the privacy of their accounts. It can be in private mode for them and the other users of the social network but not the Facebook company. Alfredo Lopez, an author analyses how the information of the Facebook users is being sold to the company once the user post on the page. Companies use a web tracking tools which tracks all the information of the users’ post on each platform. The user publishes their personal information which includes their full name, address, gender, date of birth and much more.

Once they publish it, all the information posted will belong to Facebook. Posting our information on a public platform is not the issue at hand. The problem is that it belongs to the company. They can sell our data to any government agency which requires it. Whether the user change their privacy setting or not, Facebook will automatically collect and sell all the information for their gain.

For example: According to Quartz, if United States Department of Homeland Security requires the information of the citizen, then Facebook will provide to them without seeking permission from the account user.  Not many of us are aware of what is exactly on Facebook user agreement. That is why we all come to a surprising point when our data are being sold. As a user of many social networks, the user will not take time to read each user agreement thoroughly.

In conclusion, social networking platforms simplify and extend our lives each day. It has both pros and cons.  As a user of many social networks, we now understood how to be aware when using such platforms.

As Brian Solis mentions, I want to remind you all that...social media is about sociology and psychology more than technology...

Let's give a big round of applause to social networks because of that you all can hear my words....Yup, all praise goes to one and only social networks...
